Amazing New BedUp to Save Space in Your Home E-mail
(10 votes)
BedUp is a good, practical way to free some space in your home.

When you need the bed - just lower it from the ceiling and when you don’t you can return it to the ceiling. BadUp is easy to use, I mean getting it up and down, there’s only one button. You can stop the bed at any level.

There are also lamps in the bottom of the bed so when you are not using it it becomes a ceiling with lamps. BedUp costs from $4,300 not the cheapest bed in the word but definitely the most practical.

New Designer Cabbage Chair E-mail

Nendo has designed a new chair made of waste paper from the pleated fabric industry.

The paper is wrapped into a cylinder and cut vertically half way so you can peel it one layer at a time.

New Designer Cabbage Chair

The chair was designed for the XXIst Century Man exhibition which will be at 21_21 Design Sight in Tokyo from 30 March to 6 July 2008.

To make the paper more durable resins were added during production. They also give paper the ability to remember forms, and the pleats themselves give the chair elasticity and a springy resilience, giving the seater a comfortable experience.

The production is so simple it may not be long till we are able to buy it.

Compact Furniture in One Small Box E-mail

Compact Furniture in One Small Box

It might not look like it, but inside this box, there's an armoire, a desk, a height-adjustable stool, two more stools, a six-shelf bookcase, and a bed with a mattress.

Casulo, the brilliant, modular setup designed by Marcel Krings & Sebastian Mühlhäuser, hides furnishings enough for an entire room -- or, heck, an entire apartment -- in a small 31"x47" (that's 80 cm x 120 cm) box. Two people can lift, carry, and assemble (and then disassemble, when it's time to move) each piece of furniture within the Casulo in about 10 minutes -- it requires no tools for assembly -- and every part of the boxy exterior is used, negating any need for extraneous, wasteful packaging. Smart.

Casulo won the "Abraham & David Roentgen Award" in November 2007 for its "cleverness, finesse and qualitative realisation of the idea" and we think it's quite well-deserved; what a perfect solution for frequent movers and small space dwellers alike. More pics, plus a video, of the unboxing process.

Shelves are usually somewhat boring and traditional in its design. Most of them are square or rectangular boxes of different lengths and heights. Sometimes though, a shelf comes along looking like nothing you have ever seen before. Like this one from "Unto This Last ".
